Dr. Ronwyn van Eeden is a Medical Oncologist in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
She did her undergraduate degree at the university of Pretoria, followed by her internship at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and did her community service year in Potchefstroom. She then went on to specialise in Internal Medicine at the University of Witwatersrand and her fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital. She then started working in private practice since 2016.
Dr. van Eeden is an associate editor for the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. She is currently on the executive committee of BIGOSA (breast interest group of South Africa) and is a member of the international association of studies in Lung cancer. She previously served on the executive committees for SASMO (South African society of medical oncology) and COSOSA (cardio-oncology society of south Africa).
She was also previously an honorary consultant in Medical Oncology at the Chris Hani Academic Hospital.
She has several peer review journal publications, presents at many local and international meetings and symposia and serves on local advisory boards.
She has a special interest in breast and lung cancer, as well as immuno-oncology and precision medicine.

Venturing into trauma and emergency medicine, she earned respect for her ability to provide effective care under pressure. Seeking deeper connections with patients, Dr. Omar established her own GP practice in KwaZulu-Natal. Her passion for oncology then led her to Gauteng, where she immersed herself in clinical oncology for two years in Klerksdorp. At the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, she spent three years in the Radiation Oncology Department, known for her empathy and understanding of patients’ needs. In 2025, Dr. Omar officially qualified as a specialist in Radiation Oncology, marking a milestone in her dedication to excellence in patient care. With her cheerful demeanour and calming presence, she continues to positively impact the lives of those she serves, embodying the values of compassion and professionalism.

She understands that behind every authorisation request is a patient navigating one of the most challenging times of their life.
She ensures that funding approvals are managed efficiently and accurately, helping to minimise delays and ease the administrative burden for patients. With extensive knowledge of oncology treatment processes and medical scheme requirements, she works diligently to secure the approvals patients need in a timely manner. She brings reassurance and steady support so patients can feel one less weight on their shoulders during treatment.
