After a decade in the field of accountancy, working for a number of large corporations, Marianne hung up her high heels to pursue a career in genetic counselling. She began her career at WITS in the Division of Human Genetics before moving to Rare Diseases South Africa where she was involved with both genetic counselling and research focused on the challenges facing the rare disease community.
In 2023, she joined PathCare as a Genetics Application Specialist, managing relationships with the clinical market for molecular genetic testing. Marianne runs a successful private practice and is currently registered for her PhD, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, focusing on genetic counselling services in the country.
Marianne is passionate about genetic counselling and would love to see these services expand across South Africa and become more accessible to all.
