My journey with therapeutic support and healing has been diverse and an evolving career path, culminating in the establishment of my own private practice with a focus on grief support, particularly within the oncology field.
Over the last nine years my focus has been on providing support to individuals, couples and families to manage anxiety, depression and sudden life changes by using different therapeutic modalities to encourage patients to better understand their inner world, and navigate life challenges differently by using different therapeutic tools catered specifically to each patient.
My personal interest in grief counselling has driven me to seek out opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families.
Emotional stress is a major cause of physical illness, from cancer to autoimmune conditions and many other chronic diseases. The brain and body systems that process emotions are intimately connected with the hormonal apparatus, the nervous system, and in particular the immune system.
Emotional competence requires the capacity to feel our emotions, so that we are aware when we are experiencing stress.
The ability to express our emotions effectively allows us to assert our needs and to maintain the integrity of our emotional boundaries.
Emotional competence is what we need to develop if we are to protect ourselves from the hidden stresses that create a risk to health, and it is what we need to regain if we are to heal. The only place where we can exercise our freedom of choice is in the present. It is our choice to pay attention to what we’ve lost or to pay attention to what we still have. As Edith Eger put it, our painful experiences aren’t a liability, they’re a gift. They give us perspective and meaning, and an opportunity to find our unique purpose and our strength. Your healing journey starts here.
